Pheromone Spa at The Breeder Gallery
Theo Triantafyllidis' exhibition Pheromone Spa is one of those "what did I just see?" experiences that all art enthusiasts seek. If you toο think that art must raise questions rather than give answers, then immerse yourselves in these audiovisual ecosystems comprised of ants, plants and monsters.
In this sensory journey, you'll feel both invited and trapped in universes that are not ours but that playfully mimic our human behaviours. On the first floor of the gallery, a colony of ants is obsessively building their home on a screen. The sprawling purple mud that they're weaving up seems to have a conscience of its own as it invades the space, turning the anthill into an uncontrolled and self-destructive environment. On the lower floor, the Ork family sofa welcomes you to watch them work from home, prepare dinner or brush their teeth. Now tell us, who's the monster?
If Triantafyllidis' boundary-pushing exhibition opened your art-petite, check our insider's guide to Athens Art gallery for more.
