Contemporary Sculpture at P Gallery
Dedicated to bronze sculpture, Kolonaki-based P Gallery’s shows revolve around contemporary sculpture made with different techniques and materials. The current group exhibition with works by Eric Liot, Eva Papadopoulou and Jean-Michel Pradel-Fraysse is a multifaceted one, as each artist has their own creative process.
Painter and sculptor Eric Liot initially makes his sculptures with found objects. He then assembles these pieces like a collage/scuplture which is then cast in bronze. His creations for the exhibition are inspired by Greek mythology.
Relief artist and sculptress Eva Papadopoulou puts a modern twist on mosaics. Her compositions are handcrafted using a special technique that she developed herself. Her reliefs consist of fragments of thousands of marble and stone pieces that make up a visual composition that is full of motion, reminiscing of landscapes, a favourite thematic of hers.
The weirdly compelling creatures in Jean-Michel Pradel-Fraysse’s work have an autobiographical character: he draws inspiration from animals, childhood toys, cartoon characters and even his own form. Make sure to greet Squamate when you visit, a black snake that crawls through the exhibition space.
