In 2023, we don’t really need to be lured into trying new vegan flavours. Vegan and vegetarian restaurants have sprung up all over Athens, as Mediterranean diet staples include several delicious plant-based dishes. Vegan Life Festival has grown significantly, too. Organised since 2016, it’s become the most attended vegan festival in Europe. Whether you're already a pro at leafy greens or are just dipping your toes into the world of plant-based meals, Vegan Life Festival brings two days packed with exciting stuff: hands-on cooking workshops, insightful panels, a vegan products bazaar, live music, and even a speed dating event for a chance to make some new pals who share your passion for cruelty-free eats (or even find your vegan soulmate). The organisation obviously has a strong focus on animal rights, but they’ve also got their eye on the bigger picture: initiatives that collect food for those in need or migrant kitchens set up by the Greek Forum of Migrants, which will also be there.
