International Rudimental Drumming & Marching Bands Music Festival

Marching bands from across the world visit Athens to march to the beat of their own drum - literally. The International Rudimental Drumming & Marching Bands Music Festival welcomes to Athens, for the first time, military bands, drumlines, philharmonic bands, fife and drum groups, traditional bands, and samba percussionists from the United States, Scotland, Switzerland, France, Norway, Finland and across Greece. At the heart of this festival lies the essence of "rudimental" drumming, the practice of learning drumming patterns that serve as the building blocks for a variety of sequences. Think of it as the alphabet of drumming, a universal language understood by percussionists worldwide.

Performances and presentations will be held at the War Museum over the weekend. The bands will perform for the public for free on the Dionysiou Areopagitou promenade on Saturday afternoon.
