After last year's success with Lionella, conductor Byron Fidetzis returns to the Olympia Music Theatre with an impressive cast of Greek and French singers. This time he takes on the challenge of reinterpreting Spyros Samaras' three-act opera Medgé. Κeep in mind that “reinterpreting” is used here mostly in the literal sense, as Samaras' original orchestration has been lost to time. Accompanied by the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra and the City of Athens Chorus, Fidetzis seeks to reveal the remarkable talent of Samaras, who composed this work from Pierre Elzéar's libretto at the young age of 22.
