Christmas Tree Lighting at Syntagma Square
Athens is once again about to become the ultimate Christmas wonderland, and everyone’s invited to join the magic! Syntagma Square will be transformed into a holiday spectacle, adorned with sparkling LED lights and decorations inspired by beloved Christmas classics—think Nutcrackers, elves, and all things merry. But that’s not all; Ermou Street, the National Garden, and the Omonia Square fountain will also be decked out in festive splendour.
Mark your calendars for November 28, when the holiday fun kicks off with a dazzling tree lighting ceremony at Syntagma Square. The 20-metre tree, decorated with eco-friendly, recycled ornaments, is already in place and awaits the ceremonial countdown. The night will feature festive songs performed by Greek indie/jazz songstress Nefeli Fasouli and the Athens Big Band.
Stay tuned as the City of Athens unveils its full festive programme—non-stop holiday fun for all ages. From free music concerts in central spots and hidden corners to children's activities, street parties, and a Christmas village in every neighbourhood, you’ll always be two steps away from Christmas wherever you go in Athens this December.
