On-line: Let’s Walk with Fiona Shaw

Hear one of the most riveting female thesps in the biz – Fiona Shaw - bare her mind, emotions and “process” in this peripatetic conversation recorded in 2017, as part of the Onassis Foundation’s A World of Emotions exhibition.  Philosopher and Hellenophile Simon Critchley dives right in, drawing the award-winning Shaw on the murderous rage of Medea, one of her most defining stage performances.  

“Medea was a very unacceptable play at the time,” says the British star of Harry Potter and Killing Eve. “It was really a taboo. Because it’s about the bits of our minds that the Greeks, or in particular Euripides, dared to scrape the bottom of. It reveals that the passion between men and women is what matters more than anything. And that people were prepared to sacrifice their children.”
