Athens Festival 2020: Fragment

It's one thing to ask Athenians to stay home for a global pandemic. That, we managed. Telling us that there will be no open-air concerts, no summer cinema screenings and outdoor gatherings under the Attica sun, however, was like piercing a knife through the heart. Thankfully, it was only a small puncture, as with the coming of June came the announcement that Greece has managed to steer away from COVID-19 and life would resume its normal rhythm, piece by piece.

The Athens & Epidaurus Festival is the first major summer event that decided that even a piece of it, should and would take place. Or as they call it, a Fragment. The beloved Athenian open-air festival that takes place at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus and Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus, will remain faithful to its public by giving local and international audiences the opportunity to watch large-scale performances and concerts at iconic monuments. This year's programme will include 17 music, theatre, and opera productions involving around 300 artists. Don't miss the festival's first ever contemporary art exhibition along with NEON Art Foundation. Or brush up on your Greek by catching some Greek concerts under the Acropolis—you don't get to do that every day.
