Sing Along with Athens
If May in Athens were a song it would be "Outside" by George Michael. And this is the song we would serenade you with, prompting you to go outside, in the sunshine, in the moonshine, promising to take you to the places that we like best.
So this May we invite you to sing along to our tune and spend as little time as possible in your hotel room or apartment. With more than ten festivals taking place across town, topped by our very own month-long Athens City Festival, Athenian life thrives on the streets, squares, parks and open-air spaces of the city. With urban strolls that follow Athens' typographic history, running routes with magnificent views, curated Google-powered audio walks through our neighbourhoods, and a spectacular array of events, May in Athens is a 24/7 top-of-the-lungs karaoke medley of the city' greatest alfresco hits.
Work out the Fine Print of Athenian Typography
When it came to the often overlooked aspect of urban design, typography, Athenian sign makers did not follow rules to the letter, but rather added their own creative flair to their designs. And it's exactly this nonconformity that adds to the city's charm.
