Live Concerts at the City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre
With the coming of autumn Athens hosts a highly anticipated event: the grand re-opening of the renovated City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre atop Athens’ highest downtown hill with a gorgeous 360° view of the city. Kicking off with a concert by the famous Greek composer Stavros Xarchakos, the theatre will be buzzing with both local and international musical talents across various genres until mid-October—at least that’s how far the announcements go for now. Just to give you an idea of what’s coming up: Croatian cellist Hauser will perform twice as part of his “Rebel with a Cello” tour; local legends Pyx Lax (16 & 21/09), who've been around since the 1990s, will rock the stage; laiko (popular Greek music) sensation Konstantinos Argyros (17/09), who shared the stage with 50 Cent earlier this year, will be adding his star power; and Villagers of Ioannina City’s fusion of folk and psychedelic rock will echo over the city (22/09).
