Content Accessible to All: This is Athens' AAA Accessible Site is Now Live
In 2022, great content is not enough if it isn’t accessible to all. We are delighted to announce the launch of our AAA accessible site for all travellers, expats, and potential visitors to Athens.
Our website has outstanding content and is visited by 2,500 users every day. But we understand that it might not perfectly accommodate the needs of people with visual and movement impairments.
That is why we have collaborated with the social enterprise Me Alla Matia (it means “with another eye”) to develop a more accessible version of our site. We wanted to maintain our signature style and scope, while making the information as accessible as possible by today’s standards.
On our accessible site, you can expect to find the same content that allows travellers to get to know the Greek capital and plan their trip in advance, now AAA-compliant (or AA where video content is available). Αll the useful information on accommodation, transportation, food, and city attractions that any visitor would require from This is Athens can naturally be found there as well.
The launch of our accessible site follows a series of actions and investments from the City of Athens, in its efforts to make the city more accessible to all and help people with mobility, visual or hearing issues to enjoy their stay. With the help of Me Alla Matia, who painstakingly traced our captivating metropolis step by step, street by street, with a focus group of disabled people with visual and mobility impairments, in order to provide reliable tourist routes based on personal experience, we have also been able to create 8 exclusive new city itineraries for people with disabilities.
