21st IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging
The 21st IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging will be held in Athens, Greece, May 27-30, 2024. The ISBI conference series is jointly organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, and its top priority is to strengthen the synergy between researchers and experts from academia, healthcare organizations, research institutions, and industry towards advancing research and innovation in the field of biomedical imaging.
While ISBI will cover all areas related to medical image computing, it will extend its focus to emerging AI frontiers in biomedical imaging, including interpretability, domain shifts and adaptation, trustworthiness, as well as on issues related to in-silico modelling, virtual twins, precision medicine, and clinical applications.
ISBI 2024 will include tutorials, challenges, a pitch competition, and a scientific program comprising plenary talks, special sessions, as well as oral and poster presentations of peer-reviewed papers. The ISBI 2024 edition’s program will feature keynote talks presented by world-renowned imaging scientists and clinicians, including Dr. Francis Bach, Dr. Katherine Ferrara, Dr. Anant Madabhushi, and Dr. Joseph Sifakis (2007 Turing award). Apart from the tradition of the Clinical day and the Industrial day, ISBI 2024 will host, for the first time, a Pharma-Meets-Imaging event. This half-day session will bring together pharmaceutical companies and leading imaging scientists to discuss the latest developments in drug discovery and imaging technology and explore new collaborations. We are also pleased to announce the Art-in-Biomedical-Imaging event as a new highlight of ISBI 2024. This event invites participants to go beyond conventional concepts of medical imaging and image analysis and demonstrate their artistic talent. We look forward to seeing the creativity and innovation that participants will bring to this exciting event.
The 2024 ISBI edition will be an in-person meeting that will take place at the Megaron Athens International Conference Center. The city of Athens, one of the world’s oldest cities with a recorded history of more than 3,000 years, needs no introduction: today it unifies the plethora of antiquities with parks, pedestrian streets and avenues and therein accommodates a great variety of cultural events and a lively nightlife. Cultural activities may include visits to the numerous museums, archaeological sites, old theatres, and ancient temples scattered through the Attica’s landscape, concerts and shows, as well as leisure visits to the flea market or taverns at Plaka just under the rock of the Acropolis. With its bustling streets, vibrant neighborhoods, and warm hospitality, Athens creates a perfect blend of history and modernity. The weather in May is quite pleasant, offering opportunities for unique sightseeing and relaxing for participants and accompanying persons.
