Talk of the town

Athens is a film-friendly city that draws filmmakers from around the globe. Recently, the Athens Film Office welcomed the production team of Amazon Prime’s series “The Hermit” to the Greek capital. Athens Mayor Haris Doukas attended part of the shoot. See more.

Athens Marathon. The Authentic took center stage last weekend, bringing together thousands of runners and spectators from around the world. Members of the Develop Athens S.A. running team joined the 42km Marathon Race as well as the 10- and 5km Road Races See more.

A major event in Athens last week showcased Greece to global tour operators and agents. The inaugural Global Meeting of WTAAA and ECTAA was supported by This is Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau as a Silver Sponsor.  See more.

The Athens International Children’s Film Festival 2024, will take place in multiple locations around the Greek capital next week, with more feature films than ever before, screenings featuring live dubbing and plenty of surprises for children and adults. See more.

The European Association for eXtended Reality (EuroXR) is the ultimate gathering for Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). This year, the conference will take place in Athens from November 27th to 29 th . See more.

The Athens International Boat Show returns to Athens’ Metropolitan Expo from December 4-8, 2024. The Show is addressed to professionals and amateurs who love the sea, extreme water sports and sea-related tourism activities. See more.

Shopping at the weekly farmers’ market—or laiki—is still very much a way of life in modern Athens. Every neighborhood has its own, but shopping at Kallidromiou’s laiki on Saturday morning is a popular tradition among sophisticated urbanites, who haggle over artichokes with the same passion they argue the finer points of politics over an after-market raki at one of Kallidromiou’s coffee houses or taverns.
