CONVIN’s Latest Successes in International Congresses: Advancing Science in Health and Environmental Quality

In CONVIN's lineup of success stories, two recent international congresses stand out. These impactful events fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing across disciplines, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in health and environmental quality.

1st Meeting on Systemic Autoimmune Diseases and Inflammation, Athens

Held at the Athens War Museum Auditorium from October 12-13, 2024, this congress brought together leading scientists and clinical practitioners from around the world.
With a focus on systemic autoimmune diseases and inflammation, the event explored cutting-edge research on targeted therapies, biomarkers, and translational approaches to disease management. Key speakers, such as Professors Aringer,
Croci, Distler, Jayne, Salvarani, and Schett, presented groundbreaking studies, paving new paths in the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to these diseases.
This event also offered unique networking opportunities, allowing PhD candidates and young scientists to present their research, gain feedback, and connect with established researchers. The “Work in Progress” session was particularly inspiring, highlighting new advancements and collaboration between basic and clinical research.

44th AIVC - 12th TightVent & 10th Venticool Conference, Dublin

From October 9-10, 2024, experts in Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) gathered in Dublin’s Croke Park to address carbon neutrality, building retrofitting, and indoor health risks. This crucial conference, organized by INIVE, AIVC, and other partners,
focused on retrofitting buildings to reduce emissions and improve occupant well- being. Keynotes included Prof. Sani Dimitroulopoulou from the UK Health Security Agency on health risks from damp and mould, Dr. Ana Maria Scutaru from the
German Environment Agency on indoor air quality, Prof. Corinne Mandin on the effects of indoor air quality on human health and Dr, Andrew Persily, retired from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Additionally, MEP Ciarán Cuffe offered insights into the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive as a driver for clean air.

Engaging workshops and student presentations enriched the program, making the event a valuable platform for innovation and knowledge exchange. The attendance of global experts, along with interactive sessions, fostered a comprehensive dialogue on achieving sustainable indoor environments.
