GRAPE stands for Greek Agora of Performance. But apart from what the acronym actually means, GRAPE also stands as a beacon of innovation and cultural exchange within the AEF. Inspired by Dionysus, the god of wine and theatre, GRAPE embodies the essence of the Greek summer, the arts and the passionate conversations that we have after watching a show or while sharing a few glasses of wine. GRAPE was launched by AEF in 2023 with the aim of providing a global platform for the creation of Greek theatre and dance, an initiative rooted in the festival's abiding mission to showcase Greek talent internationally. Running from 21 to 25 July, GRAPE presents an exciting line-up of eight performances exploring identity, justice, equality and the human experience in a rapidly changing world, inviting audiences to reconsider their perspectives on social norms. Academy Award nominee Efthimis Filippou, emerging Balkan director Mario Banushi, talented choreographers Katerina Andreou and Chara Kotsali are just some of the exciting names of the creatives who will be presenting their work to the world.
