AEF2023: Alexandre Desplat Live at the Acropolis
It’s that time of the year again, when Athenians start planning their summer holidays around the programme of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. The leading performing arts festival in Greece, and one of the oldest in Europe, returns between June 1st and August 26th for its 68th edition with a rich programme of events. As always, the main venues are the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the industrial complex of Pireos 260 and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. Click here for our festival picks or head over to the official website for the full programme.
Two Academy Awards, three César Awards, three BAFTAs, two Golden Globes, two Grammy Awards and dozens of nominations to his name so far, Alexandre Desplat hardly needs any introduction. If, somehow, you’re not familiar with the French composer, think back to soundtracks to The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, The Queen, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, or The King’s Speech, to name a few. The lauded composer will conduct the National Symphony Orchestra in a concert which will highlight some of his greatest film compositions, and is no doubt going to be an unforgettable experience for any music and film lover out there.
