AEF2023: Melody Gardot Live at the Acropolis
It’s that time of the year again, when Athenians start planning their summer holidays around the programme of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. The leading performing arts festival in Greece, and one of the oldest in Europe, returns between June 1st and August 26th for its 68th edition with a rich programme of events. As always, the main venues are the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the industrial complex of Pireos 260 and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. Click here for our festival picks or head over to the official website for the full programme.
How many contemporary female singers can you think of who can stand next to the greats such as Nina Simone or Billie Holiday? The list of names that answers this question is a rather short one, but for sure it includes Melody Gardot. The American jazz singer with the mystery-filled, soulful voice visits our side of the Mediterranean for a breeze-soft concert at the Herodion as a guest of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. If you’re already familiar with her work, then you know you can’t possibly miss out on this one. If you’re not, start getting hooked on her with this one.
