AEF2023: Stavros Xarchakos Live at the Acropolis
It’s that time of the year again, when Athenians start planning their summer holidays around the programme of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. The leading performing arts festival in Greece, and one of the oldest in Europe, returns between June 1st and August 26th for its 68th edition with a rich programme of events. As always, the main venues are the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the industrial complex of Pireos 260 and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. Click here for our festival picks or head over to the official website for the full programme.
From contemporary electronic soundscapes, to classical hymns dedicated to Nature, and oldschool techno parties, there’s certainly an abundance of themes to choose from for your night out at the Herodion this summer season. However, if you prefer a more authentic Greek soundtrack to your visit in Athens, book a ticket for the Stavros Xarchakos concert in mid June. One of the great masters of Greek music, his work is inextricably linked to the artistic expression of our collective experience as a nation from the 1960s to this day. Celebrated Greek performers Maria Farantouri, Yiannis Kotsiras and Iro Saia will accompany him on stage.
