Colours
Colours is the third instalment in a series of triptychs produced by the Greek National Opera Ballet and staged at the GNO Alternative Stage. This new program features three choreography pieces by Diego Tortelli, Eva Georgitsopoulou, and GNO Ballet Director Konstantinos Rigos, and it will run for five performances. Colours follows the earlier productions Human Behaviour (2021) and Human Nature (2023), continuing the popular contemporary dance series.
HOLE IN SPACE choreographed by Diego Tortelli to music by Federico Bigonzetti is a performance produced entirely through online calls. The people involved met for the first time a day before the performance to piece together all the different parts of the production. Tortelli and Bigonzetti drew inspiration from the work of artists Kit Galloway and Sherrie Rabinowitz, who in 1980 connected via satellite two oversized screens in New York and Los Angeles to create a “telecollaborative” work of art.
The second part of the triptych is W(ho)man, choreographed by Eva Georgitsopoulou and set to music by Sebastian Diakakis Nilo. The performance explores modern femininity through movement and promises to be a fresh take on contemporary gender dynamics.
To conclude, Konstantinos Rigos presents Les Nuits d’été, featuring music by Hector Berlioz. Drawing from Berlioz's six songs for voice and piano, which are set to poetry by Théophile Gautier, this is a dance performance about romantic love.
