Dance with my Own Shadow
He was the Grand Poet of Greek music. Enigmatic and urgent; the anthems of Manos Hadjidakis will spirit you away to exotic states of mind. Hear four major works of this emblematic Greek composer woven into a single performance of interlocking parts, and set to the vivid choreography of Greek National Opera ballet director Konstantinos Rigos, in a quintessentially Greek spectacle. The performance is part of the GNO’s “Manos Hadjidakis Cycle”, created to revisit the rich body of work that earned him such kudos both in Greece and abroad (it was thanks to Hadjidakis that Greece won the first Oscar ever awarded to a foreign-made movie for his track, Never on Sunday, in 1960).
