Elegies in Stone and Metal—Kapralos and Katraki
Stone and metal. Two elements steeped in imagery and symbolism for most Greeks. Together, they conjure myths and true narratives of charioteers, heroic horsemen, wounded soldiers, the figures of the Resistance. Two of Greece’s most influential artists, the great Post-War sculptor Christos Kapralos and evocative engraver, Vasso Katraki, tap the heart of this very Hellenic essence in a new joint exhibition at Roma Gallery in Athens’ gallery hub of Kolonaki. The exhibition—“Christos Kapralos (1909-1993) and Vasso Katraki (1914-1988)”—is both skilled and spiritual.
