Fran Lebowitz
You think New York taxi drivers aren’t short of an opinion or two? (Or taxi drivers anywhere for that matter.)
They got nothin’ on Fran Lebowitz.
When it comes to this modern day Dorothy Parker, there’s only one thing ever guaranteed. That the wry American writer and witty raconteur will bring the maverick and speak her mind wherever she goes.
“People are frequently infuriated by me. Because I’m filled with opinions,” says Lebowitz, now having a moment, thanks to her Netflix docu-series, “Pretend It’s a City”, made by close pal Martin Scorsese.
Since crash landing on the public radar in the 70s and 80s as an associate of Andy Warhol et al, Lebowitz’ sassy and unorthodox urban cool has been the embodiment of New York. Now, she’s bringing that sardonic social commentary to Athens for two nights to engage in unpredictable (naturally) conversations with the Onassis Foundation’s culture director Afroditi Panagiotakou.
On the talk sheet? Contemporary cultural landscape, life in the world’s metropolises, and the importance of being oneself today.
Apparently, the audience will also get to pitch questions to the formidable Ms. L. That's reason enough to snap up this hot ticket in our book. Can't get there? The exchange will be live streamed from the Onassis Stegi Main Stage, on Tuesday, March 15 at 20:30.
What would you ask Fran Lebowitz, given the chance?
