Greek National Opera Gala Evenings at Herodion
Attention opera lovers. Two very special nights have been announced by the Greek National Opera, both taking place at the glorious Odeon of Herodes Atticus right underneath the Acropolis, as part of this summer's Athens Festival.
On Sunday 26 July, world-class opera stars Krassimira Stoyanova, Riccardo Massi and Dimitri Platanias will perform famous arias and duets from operas of Verdi (Rigoletto, Il trovatore, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino), Giordano (Andrea Chénier), Catalani (La Wally), Ponchielli (La Gioconda) and Puccini (Turandot).
On Tuesday 28 July, Cellia Costea, Giorgio Berrugi and Ambrogio Maestri take on pieces from operas of Verdi (Luisa Miller, Il trovatore, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino), Ponchielli (La Gioconda) Giordano (Andrea Chénier), Leoncavallo (Pagliacci) and Puccini (Tosca). Both nights will be conducted by the distinguished Italian conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi.
Due to the restrictions and protocol in place at this time 2,000 seats will be available for sale to the public and the seating of the upper cornice will be numbered.
