A House Is Not A Home
Here at This is Athens, we believe that a city is not just its buildings but a living museum. This exhibition is built around this premise: that a physical structure or object alone does not create a sense of belonging—it lies in the emotions, memories, and connections. Curated by Georgia René-Worms, Alkinois space presents the work of Marianne Berenhaut, who, for the past six decades, has used her distinctive visual language to explore themes of nostalgia, trauma, absence, and memory. She engages in an ongoing dialogue with materiality and memory, using found objects from her environment. The exhibition showcases pivotal works such as Poupées Poubelles (1971–1980) and traces her creative evolution through the Vie Privée series of the 1980s–1990s, culminating in her most recent works.
