Jazz Chronicles 2023

The SNFCC’s ambition to bring jazz music to the spotlight and introduce us to the Greek musicians who are taking the genre one step further brings Jazz Chronicles to the Lighthouse once again. Over a period of three months, the SNFCC hosts three musical groups of diverse backgrounds and influences which are shaping the spectrum of contemporary jazz. 

Silver Lining
The Italian pianist Giovanni Mirabassi and the Greek vibraphonist Christos Rafalides joined forces during the pandemic to produce the Silver Lining album. We are not the ones to talk about the album, but we will drop in that Mirabassi has played alongside Chet Baker and that Rafalides has collaborated with Chaka Khan, Jovanotti, Louie Vega and Mimis Plessas. 

Martha Mavroidi Quartet
Martha Mavroidi and the three accompanying musicians have a matchless way of blending the Balkan and Middle Eastern with the Eastern Mediterranean style and jazz harmonies.

Pragma [The Thing]
Pragma is the jazz orchestra of Greek pianist Costis Christodoulou. Inspired by the blues and leaning on elements from the Far East, it will perform pieces from its released albums as well as unreleased tracks.
