The Landscape of Santorini
Has any island on the planet ever been more photographed - or painted - than Santorini? With her famous cliff-hugging villages and stellar sunsets, this Cycladic pin-up brings out the artist in all of us. Take a virtual trip to the narrow alleys of Fira, Oia and Akrotiri at this whimsical exhibition hosted by the Benaki Museum's Pireos site with works by feted Greek painters of the 20th century, including Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika and Yiannis Moralis. The roving collection belongs to the prolific art collector, Dimitris Tsitouras, who made it his lifelong quest to amass a stash built entirely on Santorini-scapes. If you fall in love with the paintings, you can buy the accompanying book to take home in your suitcase.
