MIRfestival 2023
Art in galleries, art on the streets and art in... secret forests. The multidisciplinary MIRfestival, named after the Russian satellite MIR, comes with an MIRssion to spread its creative signals across Athens. For this year's edition, it presents twelve art projects, covering performances, experimental live media events, concerts, interventions in the city and everything in between.
Among them is Fond Affections, a mysterious series of performances by Stelios.exe, Spyros Kouvaras and Ingri Fiksdal (all three artists are also taking part in the festival with their personal projects) in a "secret forest". To participate, you have to meet them at Gallery Space Baby and travel together by bus to the location. You could also opt for French performer Betty Tchomanga's lecture/performance Une Leçon de Ténèbres ("Lesson of Darkness"), which explores issues of colonialism and the environment, or German artist Eva Meyer Keller's reimagining of her emblematic 2000s performance Death is Certain, this time performed by her daughter. Or, if you fancy a moving performance street party, join Dutch artist Floor van Leeuwen's Swarm and dance with inflatable lights and speakers in the streets of Athens.
We suggest checking directly with the event organiser or host venue for confirmation, either on their website or Facebook page.
