Music Escapades and Parklife at the SNFCC
Is less never more in your book? The SNFCC agrees. One of Athens’ favourite music traditions, the free music events down at the Kallithea landmark, are back. This year’s lineup ranges from local rising artists, to old school hip hop legends and even a symphonic orchestral performance. In other words, there’s something for everyone. Check the programme below and make sure to book beforehand… Oh wait, it’s all free!
Music Escapades - The SNFCC’s Panoramic Steps become the meeting ground of the latest trends in the Greek alternative scene.
- 8 July - Local indie scene talents Jef Maarawi (Full Band) & Jack Heart and The Love Ghosts join forces.
- 21 July - Singer songwriter Pavlina Voulgaraki pays tribute to her influences with a soulful programme. Expect Sade, Stevie Nicks, PJ Harvey and Grace Slick and Greek hits under the summer sky.
Parklife - Step unto The Great Lawn for three wonderful evenings of free live music concerts by leading acts.
- 2 July - Staying true to her heritage, Yasmin Levy modernised Ladino music - sung in the Judeo-Spanish dialect of Mediaeval origin - by combining them with flamenco elements and Turkish music.
- 15 July - Arrested Development are a band of Afroamerican music visionaries who formed in the late 1980s and offered a powerful, feelgood alternative to gangsta rap that dominated the charts at that time. Since then, they have established themselves as hip hop trailblazers.
- 28 July - For the 50 year anniversary of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir present a live concert revisiting the emblematic album.
- 2 September - French music collective La Femme blends genres in unexpected ways and promises an explosive night. This flawless psychedelic rock line-up includes local bands The Steams and Dury Dava and wraps up this round of Parklife.
