Open House Athens 2024
This year, Athens is celebrating 10 years of peering into other people's homes. We may have made that sound a little strange. Allow us to elaborate. Open House Athens turns 10 this year! The hugely popular series of architectural tours is back for another weekend, welcoming visitors into some of the capital's most interesting buildings.
The tours themselves are the main focus of OHA, and are free to all - although trust us when we say that they are very popular, so expect long queues, especially at the marquee sites. Over the past year, some very exciting buildings have opened (or re-opened) in Athens, such as the Alekos Fassianos Museum, Plyfa (the former Athens Athens Knitting-Weaving Works factory in Votanikos), the Piraeus Tower and many more. Naturally, they're all on this year's list.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of OHΑ, special guided tours will be organised for a limited number of visitors which must be booked in advance: A special tour which includes both transport and a guided tour of the Vitex paint factory in Aspropyrgos on Friday 5, and a sure-to-be sold out tour of the historic Grande Bretagne Hotel on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 (the GBH is also celebrating its 150th anniversary this year with a series of special events).
Made in Athens the programme that runs parallel to OHA, includes factory tours and workshops led by artisans and producers. This year's open walks will focus on Kifissia and Kypseli through Fokionos Negri Street. And if you are not in Athens, you can enjoy one of the live-streamed tours.
After you've walked all over Athens, you can dance off what's left of your batteries at the regular closing party. Follow the links below for the full programme, which also includes interviews with prominent architects and open office talks.
