Open House Athens 2025
If you’ve ever wanted to peek behind the doors of neoclassical townhouses, industrial spaces or sleek modern offices in Athens, Open House Athens is your golden ticket. The city’s most popular architecture event returns on the weekend of April 5–6, unlocking access to more than 70 buildings across town—with free, volunteer-led tours that bring local stories, styles and skylines to life.
This year’s theme, Future Heritage – The Architecture of Today, the Heritage of Tomorrow, looks at how today’s design choices become tomorrow’s legacy. Expect a wide-ranging lineup: preserved neoclassical gems, modernist apartment blocks, sustainably built spaces, and bold new work environments—each offering a different lens on what architectural heritage can mean in the 21st century.
Alongside the main event, the programme includes live-streamed tours for those joining from afar, plus parallel events like factory and workshop visits (MADE in Athens), curated city walks through Kifissia, Kypseli and downtown Athens (OPEN WALK), educational activities for students and schools, and behind-the-scenes tours of some of Athens’ leading architecture studios (OPEN OFFICE).
There are also a number of fun competitions for locals and visitors alike, including OPEN PHOTO—a photography contest open to all on Instagram. Other contests include voting for your favourite tour, collecting stamps on your event map, and submitting a creative visual story for the annual Open House Europe showcase.
No need to book in advance—just pick your spots and show up early. Some of the most buzzworthy buildings can draw a queue. Tours are available in English upon request.
