Raiment of the Soul at the Acropolis Museum
Renowned photographer Vangelis Kyris and embroidery artist Anatoli Georgiev collaborated and brought to life the exhibition Raiment of the Soul with the support of the National Historical Museum. 128 traditional costumes of great historical significance were worn again for the first time after two centuries. Several of the costumes, rare exhibits from the National Historical Museum, belonged to historical figures such as Gennaios Kolokotronis, Dimitrios Mavromichalis, King Otto, Kyra Frosini, and Rosa Botsari among others, were worn by contemporary people, then captured by the lens of Vangelis Kyris. The shots were then printed on fabric and Anatoli Georgiev needled exquisite embroideries on them.
The exhibition is part of the anniversary program of the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece for the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
