Stefanos Rokos: 50,000,000 Tons of Landscape
The latest solo exhibition of Stefanos Rokos presents mixed media works on canvas and paper, three sculptures, and an animation.
Known for his signature style, which balances intricate detail with dissolution, Rokos describes this body of work as a naive attempt to define the scale, weight, and majesty of landscapes, especially in contrast to human stories of struggle and awe.
A highlight of the exhibition is the animation 50,000,000 Tons of Landscapes, featuring an original soundtrack by Jim Sclavunos and Nick Cave, recorded especially for the show. The exhibition is also accompanied by a bilingual art book, featuring essays and poems by Greek poet Danae Siozios. A limited edition (150 copies) includes a silkscreen print designed by Rokos.
