The Callas: Strange Fruits
The Callas are: A) a rock band, B) filmmakers, C) visual artists, D) brothers, E) a vibrant artistic collective. It’s F, all of the above. Lakis and Aris Ionas have been honing their many crafts and wearing different hats since 2002. Now they present their art exhibition Strange Fruits and celebrate being represented by one of Athens’ leading galleries, Dio Horia. The exhibition, named after the iconic Billie Holiday song, isn't just confined to the gallery walls; it's a creative eruption that spans from the sidewalk outside to the entire gallery all the way to the basement. You’ll get to see dark acrylic and spray paintings, neon-coloured installations, sculptures, and impressive embroidered tapestries that are designed by the Ionas’ brothers and woven by their mother and aunt.
