Weft and Warp
Even though it is being hosted in the most spacious annex of the Benaki Museum on Pireos Street, this is an exhibition that could easily occupy an even grander space. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Basil Papantoniou Foundation (BPF) and its extraordinary collection of over 50,000 artefacts, the Weft and Warp exhibition transforms the space into a fashion museum featuring more than 150 stunning garments and accessories. Visitors will get to see precious and rare local folk costumes, unique pieces from Greek and international fashion, and experimental designs made from repurposed materials and unusual fabrics highlighting environmental concerns. This rich offering represents the life’s work of the Foundation’s founder, the renowned costume designer Ioanna Papantoniou, whose contributions have played a vital role in the preservation of Greece's cultural heritage.
