2024 UEFA Europa Conference League Final

We're not the ones to brag about what Athens has to offer, but this May the Greek capital really does have something for everyone. And we're not just talking about our very own month-long This is Athens - City Festival.

At the end of May, football fans from all over Europe will descend on our shores for the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League. One of Europe's biggest sports events will take place at the brand-new AEK Arena stadium in Nea Philadelphia, pitting Olympiacos FC of Piraeus, Greece, against ACF Fiorentina of Florence, Italy. The inside scoop is that AEK fans are feeling a little defeated at having a somewhat rival Greek team playing a European final in their brand new home, but at the end of the day it's all about fair play (we invented that, you know).

To mark the occasion, a special two-day football fiesta will be held in the beautiful Kotzia Square, just outside Athens City Hall, where visitors will be able to take part in a series of free sports activities and get a selfie with the trophy itself. A giant replica of the cup will also be installed at Jacqueline de Romilly Square in Thissio from 24 to 29 May, a perfect photo opportunity with the Acropolis in the background. May the best team win!
