Mare Liberum: Yiorgis Yerolymbos
To look at the sea is to travel. Our minds can visit thousands of places, faces and feelings in a single moment; our gaze can drift for hours along the horizon. Artist Yiorgis Yerolympos has taken inspiration from the boundless sea in his solo photography exhibition, named after “mare liberum”, the first concept of International Waters. According to this law, after a certain distance away from the shore, the sea was considered free and belonging equally to all those sailing on it. “Looking at the sea, I feel, we return to the place we call home. There, only there, we are free”, says the artist about his own creative journey. Catch Mare Liberum at Kolonaki's influential Skoufa Gallery.
