Weavings: Painting and tapestry in Greece from 1960 to the present
Paintings by prominent Greek modern artists that were recreated in another medium are the theme of this exhibit at the Benaki Museum. Handmade rugs and tapestries bring to life the works of Nikos Nikolaou, Spyros Vasiliou, Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas, and others, in an art form that wasn't as widely popular in Greece as it was in more northern countries. The warm climate forced us to leave our walls and floors bare for most of the year. Which is what makes this exhibition all the more interesting. Come see what happens when artists are inspired by each other.
