Demosthenis Skoulakis: An Artist of Contradictions
During the 1970s, Greek art moved from abstraction to realism, with Demosthenis Skoulakis as one of the generation’s strongest forces. This exhibit divides the painters long career into 8 periods, with over 100 paintings. His subject is almost always the human being, and our relation to politics and social movements (especially those of 1960s and 1970s Greece), while his style ranges from realist to surrealist.
