Athens Big Band presents The Sound of Music & Jazz Time!
If you think jazz music is just about Christmas or musicals are just less dull operas, let us prove you wrong. Two fun and vibrant nights are coming to shake up dreary February at the Olympia Municipal Music Theatre Maria Callas.
Over two separate concerts, you can hear popular Greek artists perform songs from some of the world's most beloved musicals, and accomplished Greek jazz artists join the Athens Big Band on an exotic sound safari of swing and blues. Be it an adventure in the company of Peter Pan, or a melodramatic romance behind the mask of the "Phantom of the Opera", a ticket to the "Sound of Music" offers a tracklist for all moods with compositions by George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elton John and other big gun composers.
Craving something a bit less predictable? “Jazz Time!” promises contemporary and improvisational takes on traditional jazz and blues numbers by the likes of Sammy Nestico, Frank Mantooth, John La Barbera and Michael Abene. Can't decide? Double down and head along to both.
