Hadassah Emmerich: Epicurean Eden
The National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens is celebrating women's art this season with a series of group and solo exhibitions honouring pioneering female artists.
Hadassah Emmerich's work often focuses on the female form and explores themes of attraction, detachment and critical evaluation, drawing inspiration from advertising and pop art. Since 2016, Emmerich has been pioneering a distinctive painting technique using stencils cut from vinyl flooring, which she covers in ink and imprints on various surfaces. For her first exhibition in Greece, Emmerich has created a large-scale mural, titled Epicurean Eden, transforming the museum’s educational space into a vibrant and engaging environment, particularly appealing to young visitors. Navigating the realms of sensory and sensual experience, she has gained a reputation for her vibrant and daring murals, which showcase a rich tapestry of stylised depictions ranging from exotic fruits to human anatomy and natural elements.
