Manos Hadjidakis - 30
While Manos Hadjidakis introduced the sound of the bouzouki and became known to an international audience through his theme for the film Never on Sunday—which won the 1961 Oscar for Best Original Song—he is more deeply connected to the Greek psyche through his melodic and lyrical compositions. His music and public presence have profoundly shaped Greek cultural life. This influence will echo at the Herodion in a concert commemorating the 30th anniversary of his death. A full house is expected in his honour where the velvet-voiced singer-songwriter Alkinoos Ioannidis will interpret some of his most famous songs.
