TiACF25: Dobrawa Czocher
This is Athens City Festival returns this May — bigger, bolder, and bursting into more neighbourhoods than ever before. From 1 May to 1 June, over 200 free events will take over parks, squares, rooftops and hidden corners across the capital, inviting locals and visitors alike to explore a different side of the city. Scroll down for a curated selection of this year’s events — or head to the official festival site to see the full programme.
Following last year’s unforgettable Lubomyr Melnyk concert, the Roman Agora once again becomes the stage for a night of transcendent music under the Athenian sky. This year, This is Athens City Festival and the Embassy of Poland in Athens welcome Dobrawa Czocher, one of Europe’s most celebrated young cellists, for her debut performance in Greece.
Blending classical technique with contemporary flair, Czocher is part of a new generation redefining what modern classical music sounds (and feels) like. Her critically acclaimed albums with pianist Hania Rani — Inner Symphonies and Midnight Sessions — have toured the world, captivating audiences with cinematic depth and emotional power. Expect a performance that’s intimate, atmospheric, and quietly electrifying — a rare opportunity to hear one of the most innovative voices in classical music in one of the city’s most evocative settings.
* Most events are free entrance and require no tickets, to the exception of some that have a priced ticket, or require pre-registration, or are invitation-only. All related information to each of the festival's events can be found on the festival's website, under the page for each event.
