Don Letts
One way to attract more customers to your parents' clothing store is to come up with fishy discounts and offers. Another way is to befriend Bob Marley after attending his concert and end up with regulars like The Clash, Sex Pistols, Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith and Deborah Harry. Don Letts went with the latter and so started his storied career in music and film-making. He is the man that brought punk and reggae together in the UK in the 70s at the fabled Roxy club, the main videographer of The Clash—having directed over 300 music videos for artists like The Pretenders, Bob Marley and Elvis Costello—and an acclaimed music documentarian for the likes of Gil-Scott Heron, The Jam, Sun Ra, George Clinton, Joe Strummer and more. The 63-year-old icon still DJs strictly to oldschool and new dub reggae and will do so at the SNFCC Sessions along with a Q&A sitdown.
