Athens Fashion Film Festival 2020
The folk behind this year’s Athens Fashion Film Festival hope that beauty may yet save the world. If our early glimpses of Luca Guadagnino’s sumptuous opener, The Staggering Girl, are anything to go by, it just might. The feted Italian director (he gave us the exquisite-from-top-to-toe Call Me By Your Name) shot this introspective mid-length movie for fashion house Valentino. Guadagnino, in turn, tapped the likes of Julianne Moore and Kiki Layne to sprinkle it with stardust. See The Staggering Girl, along with dozens more excellent short films and documentaries about fashion, art, beauty, and the ethics of aesthetics, at this three-day international festival, to be staged at the Technopolis of Athens’ Amphitheater in Gazi. Not satisfied with only playing the voyeur? You can also get stuck into one of the panels and masterclasses exploring the trends and tropes currently ruling cinema, fashion, art and the environment. The screenings are free, but don’t be fashionably late. For details on how to pre-register- and the full programme - stay tuned to the festival link below.
