AEF2024: Subset Festival

The Athens Epidaurus Festival (AEF) is gearing up for a spectacular 2024 edition with 85 days filled with sheer artistic brilliance. From June 1 to August 24, AEF will transform iconic venues across Athens and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus into stages for 93 productions featuring over 2,500 artists from around the world. The Athens leg of the festival concludes on the last day of July, while in August the action moves to Epidaurus, where eager locals pilgrimage for their annual rendezvous with Greek tragedy. Take a look at our highlights for the season and have a great AEF2024!

After its successful debut at last year’s AEF, Subset Festival, a gathering of experimental electronic musicians from all around the world, returns for an encore at the state-of-the-art spaces of the Athens Conservatory. 10/06: Catch the collaboration of Klara Lewis and Nik Colk Void, who will present a playful fusion of pop and noise. On the same day, Natalia Manta will visually curate the sounds of Arve Henriksen's trumpet and the innovative instrumentation of Jannis Anastasakis.
11/06: Andys Skordis' β invites audiences into a ritualistic, multidisciplinary performance.
12/06: Alexandros Drymonitis fuses live acoustic techno with artificial intelligence while the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop explores Maya Dunietz's composition.
13/06: MIZI, George Kokkinaris and Thanos Polymeneas' sound experiments in ΜΑΖΑ plunge audiences into a dense, surreal soundscape. Also worth checking out are the evocative compositions of Laurel Halo and Leila Bordreuil, who present Atlas.
14/06: The moving tribute Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus which will be screened to honour his legacy. And as the curtain falls, the Arts Lounge comes alive to the beats of the Closing Party, a joyous celebration of creativity and community.
