Carnival & Koulouma at the SNFCC
The SNFCC never misses a chance for a grand celebration. On the last Sunday of Carnival, Athens’ biggest cultural hub transforms into a vibrant fiesta filled with music, dance, and fun for all ages.
Step into a world of festivities with live concerts, drum parades, DJ sets, and interactive workshops for both kids and adults—along with plenty of dancing, games, and carnival spirit. DJ Palov kicks things off with an energetic mix of jazz, funk, hip-hop, reggae, and Latin beats, before Los Petralonicos take over with their fusion of psychedelic Amazonian sounds, Latin, and swing rhythms. Meanwhile, Bloco Swingueira’s electrifying Brazilian samba percussion will keep the energy high throughout the park.
But the celebration doesn’t stop there! On Clean Monday, the Stavros Niarchos Park invites you to mark the arrival of Lent and Spring with a traditional Koulouma festival. From 12 pm to 3 pm, renowned ethnomusicologist Lambros Liavas presents a dynamic showcase of Greek music and dance, bringing together a wide range of regional traditions—from Kalamatianos and Tsamikos to Syrtos, Zonaradiko, and Pentozali.
Accompanied by a talented ensemble of musicians, the festival celebrates Greece’s rich folk heritage. Dance groups from the "Choropaideia" Folklore Association and the "Argonauts Komninoi" Pontian Club invite you to join in the circle dance, making this a unique opportunity to experience the joy of traditional Greek celebrations.
