Release Festival 2022: London Grammar, LP & Hooverphonic, D3LTA, Daphne and the Fuzz
If you've been following the announcements of Release Festival this year, you might have felt the need for a bit of pop thinness in all that metal outfit. Sure, we've got the Pet Shop Boys and Parov Stelar, but that hardly covers for the stampede of a line-up that is Slipknot, Sepultura, Judas Priest, Rotting Christ, Manowar, Rhapsody of Fire, Cradle of Filth, The Dead Daisies, Sabaton, Blind Guardian and Epica (oof!). Enter London Grammar, LP and Hooverphonic to balance things off. The British downtempo/indie pop superstars, who took a 180° mood turn in their latest LP, will headline the third pop-oriented day of Release this summer - the Greek crowd has been waiting on them since 2019 when they unfortunately cancelled. American songwriter and hitmaker (for Cher, Rihanna, the Backstreet Boys, Leona Lewis, Mylène Farmer, Céline Dion and Christina Aguilera among others) turned solo performer, LP, is part of the day's line-up along with Belgian indie-pop favourites, Hooverphonic. Too much name-dropping, right? We, know. Athens is having a moment in the summer concert sun.
